2 brgy. officials arrested for violating liquor ban in Allacapan town

ALLACAPAN, Cagayan, April 5 (PIA) – – -Two barangay councilors of Allacapan town were arrested on April 3 by the Cagayan Police Provincial Office for violating the provincewide implementation of liquor ban.

Provincial Director Police Colonel Ariel Quilang said the suspects will be facing charges for violating Executive Order No. 13 (Liquor Ban) issued by the Provincial Government of Cagayan and RA 11332 referring to “non-cooperation of persons or entities that should report and/or respond to notifiable diseases or health events of public concern”.

In a police report, an information from a concerned citizen reporting that a group of male persons were having a drinking spree at about 12:40 a.m. on April 3 in Allacapan, Cagayan.

Quilang said PNP Allacapan led by Police Lieutenant Ronnie Heraña immediately responded to verify the veracity of the relayed information which led to the arrest of the two barangay councilors.

The two suspects were subjected for alcohol breath test at the Municipal Health Office of Allacapan.

Quilang ssured the public that even government officials and private business owners who will be caught doing criminal acts shall be liable before the rule of law. (MDCT with reports from Tirso Gador/PIA-2)
