7,847 Kalinga farmers to receive assistance from DA

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Apr. 14 (PIA) — Seven thousand eight hundred forty-seven (7,847) farmers will benefit from financial assistance provided under the Rice Tarification Law (RTL) dubbed as Rice Farmers Financial Assistance.
 
Fevelyn Apil Macadaeg of the Department of Agriculture-Cordillera Administrative Region-Regional Field Office said the list of farmers was already submitted to the Land Bank of the Philippines and is subject for validation.

Each qualified farmer will receive Php5, 000 cash assistance. Qualifications include the   farmer  is  tilling 0.5 to two hectares of farm land and is  listed in the Registry System for Basic Sector in Agriculture.

In related development, the DA through its Agricultural Credit Policy Council is offering to farmers loan under the Survival Recovery Aid (SURE) in the amount of Php25, 000 with zero interest and payable in 10 years.

 Macadaeg said the loan assistance is for farmers who did not receive any assistance from the agriculture department including the Php15, 000 SURE-Aid loans given last year, and those who have no existing loan.

Interested farmers may apply at their respective Municipal/City Agriculture Offices. Application is until April 17,2020. (JDP/PAB-PIA CAR, Kalinga)
