Bacolod City’s 10,569 4Ps get cash grants
BACOLOD CITY, April 12 (PIA6) – – The 10,569 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Bacolod City have received their cash grants since last week of March for a total of P38-million and another grant in April for a total of P49-million, as part of the government’s response during the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.
Bacolod City Department of Social Services and Development head Pacit Tero said these were funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, where the first P38-million was part of the 4Ps beneficiaries’ regular grants for December 2019 and January this year.
“We can say that these beneficiaries are now secured considering that they have received and will be receiving subsidies and grants automatically from the government,” Tero assured.
Tero added that the grant of P49-million received by the beneficiaries in April was the emergency social amelioration grant to enable 4Ps beneficiaries weather the COVID crisis.
While on May, these beneficiaries are again set to receive their regular grants for the months of February and March 2020.
Meanwhile, Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia appreciated the assistance of the national government through the DSWD particularly the social amelioration grant in April and the next wave of social amelioration assistance is expected in May.
“These emergency cash subsidies will surely help 4Ps families survive the difficult times we are all experiencing now, and provide a “shot in the arm” for the local economy during this period of enhanced community quarantine,” Leonardia added. *(LTP/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
