Bambang youth, frat group reach out to stranded studes, poor villagers

BAMBANG, Nueva Vizcaya, April 12(PIA) – Members of the Sangguniang Kabataan in this town recently tied up with a fraternal organization in this town to reach out to the poor villagers affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.(ECQ).

More than 1,500 villagers were already assisted  by the SK in barangay Banggot as of press time through the provision of free food packs, face masks and personal hygiene and disinfectant supplies.

They started the endeavor a few days after the declaration of the ECQ by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in Luzon due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stranded students of the Nueva Vizcaya State University(NVSU) get a relief asistance from the Sangguniang Kabataan(SK) and Alpha Phi Omega Theta Epsilon Chapter in Bambang town. “We initiated this activity to help our fellow villagers in this time of health emergency and we are grateful for our donors. Rest assured that your assistance were fully given to our villagers,” said Jeannie Alexandra Felipe, SK president and concurrent regional president of the Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo(KKDAT) in Cagayan Valley.

SK members also linked – up with the members of the Alpha Phi Omega International Service Fraternity and Sorority Theta Epsilon Chapter Alumni Association(APOTECAA) in reaching out to students of the Nueva Vizcaya State University(NVSU) in this town who were stranded with the ECQ.

Food packs, vitamins, facemasks and free meals were also given to the stranded students.

The food assistance, Felipe said will be pursued in the coming days to serve other villagers needing food assistance, among others.

Reynald Tan, APOTECAA president said the fraternity started its food assistance among members of the fraternity in Bambang town, especially those in distressed situations due to the ECQ.

“We thought of helping our brothers and sisters who are hardly-hit by the ECQ, having in mind the saying that “Charity begins at home”.” he added.(MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
