BORONGAN CITY, April 16 (PIA) –The Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities is a big addition to the LGUs initiatives in the fight against COVID-19.

Borongan City Mayor Jesus Ivan Dayan Agda shared that the Bayanihan Grant to Cities and Municipalities of P49.6 M is really good news.

The mayor revealed this in a press conference Wednesday with the local media.

“Mayda la niya specific nga puyde gastuhan, dire ka puyde gumasto hit wara dida han purpose, kun dire ini maubos, iuuli ha National Treasury,” (There are specific objects for spending, we cannot just spend it on anything, if we do not spend it all, we will return the remaining amount to the National Treasury.) Agda informed the media.

He said the city may spend the money to respond to COVID-19 needs like procurement of PPEs, reagents, for COVID-19 testing, medicines and vitamins, disinfectants, sprayers, disinfection tents, food, transportation, fuel, to name some.

He stressed that the fund cannot be used for any form of financial or cash assistance.

In the presscon, the local chief executive also assured his constituents that he will continue to find ways and means to ensure that his people will survive the Stay at Home edict.

He urged Boronganons to stay at home, observe health protocols and pray.

The city is preparing for the 3rd and 4th wave of distributing relief goods to more than 20 thousand families in the city of Borongan. (nbq/PIA E. Samar with Reden Tangara)
