Cagayan PNP arrests drugstore owner for overpricing
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, April 5 (PIA) – – -With its strict implementation of the ‘Bayanihan Heal as One Act’ and ‘Price Act’, the Cagayan Police Provincial Office arrested a pharmacy owner and his pharmacy assistant in this city through an entrapment operation on Friday, April 3.
Provincial Director Police Colonel Ariel Quilang said in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), joint personnel from Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Anti-Criminality Task Force-Cagayan PPO Team and Tuguegarao City Police Station conducted the operation which resulted to the arrest of two suspects who were selling beyond the suggested retail price (SRP) after receiving two (2) pieces genuine 1 thousand peso bill utilized as transaction money placed in exchange of the three (3) pieces 1 liter Germs Away alcohol.
Recovered also during the operation was one (1) piece 1 liter Germs Away alcohol with tag price P320 placed on top of glass shelves inside the pharmacy.
The two suspects, according to Quilang, will be facing cases for violating RA 11469 (Bayanihan Heal as One Act), RA 7581 (Price Act) as ammended by RA 10623 and RA 7394 (Consumer Act of the Philippines).
Quilang urged drugstore owners and other establishment owners selling disinfectant materials not to take advantage of the situation or else they will face the consequences once arrested by the police. (MDCT with reports from Tirso Gador/PIA-2)
