Cavite sends medical team for COVID-19 patients in Laguna

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite Apr. 26 (PIA) — The city government of Cavite opened its borders to send its medical team to help COVID-19 patients of Los Baños, Laguna.

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla ordered the dispatch of the medical team upon knowing that a group of people from said area who showed syptoms of the corona virus disease were not accommodated by testing centers in Manila. 

Despite the lack of final approval from the Department of Health (DOH) for the Cavite/DLSM-Center for Disease Control (CD/CDC) laboratory’s Level 5 accreditation, Gov. Remulla authorized the test to be conducted. 

“Eventhough the DOH won’t accept it as final, the human cost of not knowing is great. Undiagnosed, untreated, non-isolated cases will spread the virus even further,” the governor justified.

He added further, “There are no borders in pandemics. What happens in Laguna affects Cavite. What happens in Cavite eventually affects Laguna. We are all in this crisis together. In a few weeks, we will have enough capacity for our target testing program and a little more to help our neighbors in CALABARZON.”

Meanwhile, Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez expressed his gratitude to Governor Remulla and to the Caviteños as well for the help extended to his afflicted constituents.

In an open letter posted in his Facebook account, Governor Hernandez stated that he and Governor Remulla discussed about the accommodation for the COVID-19 patients from Laguna since their testing center is still under construction.

“Totoo pong nag-uusap kami ni Gov. Jonvic Remulla tungkol sa pag-accommodate ng mga taga-Laguna habang ongoing pa ang construction ng sarili naming testing center sa Laguna na minamadali na naming matapos,” said Gov. Hernandez.
