DA 12 rolls out Kadiwa store-on-wheels to ECQ-affected barangays

KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato, Apr. 5 (PIA) – Soccsksargen Region’s Department of Agriculture (DA 12) has launched Friday “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita on Wheels” a rolling store that brings fresh agriculture and fishery products to barangays affected by the ongoing enhanced community quarantine imposed by local government units in the fight against coronavirus disease.
On Friday, Kadiwa travelled to barangays Sto Niño, Rotonda, and Esperanza in Koronadal City and brought with it rice, poultry, meat, fish, vegetables, fruits and other produce gathered from local farmers and fisherfolk.
Products were sold at farm gate prices.
“Kadiwa provides access to fresh and nutritious produce to residents who are unable to leave their homes because of the ongoing community quarantine while helping farmers and fisherfolk market their produce,” Andy Ango of DA 12’s Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD) told Philippine Information Agency.
Kadiwa on Wheels is a collaboration between DA, Agricultural Training Institute (ATI), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), National Dairy Authority, local government units, and other partners.
Products sold during their maiden trip in Koronadal City were rice sold at P32.00 per kilogram, chicken (P100/ 900 grams), carp (P150/bundle), eggs (P180/tray), squash (P8/kg), sweet potato (P35/kg), eggplant (P30/kg), tomatoes (P20/kg), calamansi (P35/kg), watermelon (P20/kg), radish (P20/kg).
Mangoes (105/kg), guavas (P25/kg), asparagus (P130/kg), deboned bangus (P121/kg), smoked bangus (P150/pack), tuna nuggets (P30/pack), tuna meat (P85/pack), tuna flakes (P75/pack), tuna chorizo(P35/pack, tuna embotido (P20/pack), tuna lumpia (P30/pack), Pompano (P130/pack), and calamansi juice P15/bottle).
Ango said Kadiwa will also roll out in Cotabato City on April 8, Wednesday.
“Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita on Wheels’s first stop in Cotabato City will be at Barangay Rosary Heights 3 to cater to residents of Barangay Rosary Heights 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Then we will proceed to the intesection of Barangay Poblacion 8 and Poblacion 9 and finally at Barangay Tamontaka 4 for the residents of Barangays Tamontaka, 3, 4, and 5,” Ango said.
Kadiwa on Wheels will also bring fresh and affordable products to residents of Kidapawan City in Cotabato Province after the Holy Week. The specific date and locations have not been set, Ango added. (DED/PIA-XII)
