CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, April 5 (PIA) –The Department of Agriculture Region IV-CALABARZON distributed various vegetable seeds, plastic drums, and fertilizers to farmersā€™ groups in Indang, Cavite and San Luis, Batangas March 30 in time for the new cropping season.

The distribution of production support to vegetable farmers’ groups was done through their respective municipal agriculturists and group representatives.

Engr. Redelliza A. Gruezo, Chief of Field Operations Division and concurrently the Coordinator for High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) in the region, said the identified farmersā€™ groups in said municipalities have good market linkages with big supermarkets and food companies, which also support their respective local food production programs, and the KADIWA stores established.

She added that this will help ensure that food will be available, affordable, and accessible for the consumers.

ā€œOther identified farmersā€™ groups/associations in the region which are set to receive production support from HVCDP need not worry because we are now finalizing the schedule for the distribution of interventions to continue as early as next week,ā€ Engr. Gruezo assured.

Among the vegetable seeds received are for the planting of hybrid tomato, ampalaya, squash, pole sitao, hot pepper, pechay, and upland kangkong. (PIA-4A/DA Calabarzon)
