DOH-10 confirms COVID-19 death in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, April 25 (PIA) – Department of Health (DOH)-10 Regional Director Adriano P. Suba-an confirmed that a “Kagay-anon”  tested poositive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) had passed away.
 
In a virtual press conference held by Northern Mindanao Task Force for COVID-19 yesterday, April 24, Dr. Suba-an said this new COVID-19 positive case recorded in Cagayan de Oro City was patient no. Ph6783.
 
The patient was 69 years old, male and a resident of barangay Camaman-an here.  He experienced symptoms of cough, fever, sore throat and difficulty in breathing last April 10, then admitted to the hospital on April 15. His specimen was collected on April 17. He died on April 18.
 
While verifying for his travel history, Ph6783 was also diagnosed with Chronic Respiratory Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. He expired on April 18 with a final diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
 
The result of his test was received last April 23 confirming that the patient was a COVID-19 positive.
 
DOH-10 with the assistance of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 is now conducting contact tracing. Those in close contact with Ph6783 are now in isolation and currently under observation by the DOH.
 
Meanwhile, under the new classification of COVID-19, there are 420 suspected cases where 40 patients were admitted, 123 patients discharged, 229 out-patient and 24 mortality were recorded in the entire region.
 
Dr. Suba-an reminds the public that “we are still not safe from the threat of COVID-19 and that staying at home and observing the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will help flatten the curve of the said disease.” (JAKA/PIA10)
