DOH reminds level 2, 3 hospitals not to refuse COVID-19 patients

April 12, 2020 Uncategorized

ILOILO CITY, April 12 (PIA6) — The Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) 6 reiterated its directive to all Level 2 and 3 public and private hospitals to attend to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients.

In a virtual press conference on Facebook, Dr. May Ann Sta Lucia, DOH6 Health Education and Promotion (HEPO) Cluster Head, said that DOH Department Circular (DC) 2020-0070 Public Advisory No. 10 stated that all level 2 and 3 public and private hospitals are directed to attend to COVID-19 patients including patients under investigation (PUIs).

“All licensed level 2 and 3 hospitals are equipped with isolation rooms at the Emergency and In-Patient Departments and should have the capacity to manage infectious disease,” she said.

She said COVID-19 patients seeking consultations or treatment can be managed in these hospitals.

Appropriate infection prevention and control measures should be strictly implemented to ensure safety and protection of health care workers attending to these patients.

The Department Circular affirmed previously issued DOH DC. No. 2020-023, which is the reiteration of DC. No. 2020-014 titled “Directive to attend to all suspected nCoV patients seeking consultations/treatments at the hospitals.”

The regional office here assured the public that it is close coordination with public and private hospitals in the detection, treatment and management of COVID-19 cases. (LTP/DOH/PIA-Iloilo)
