Guimaras aids families with 1 sack of rice, canned goods
ILOILO CITY, April 16 (PIA) – – Every family in Guimaras will receive one sack of rice from the provincial government to help the residents amid this coronas virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Guimaras governor Samuel Gumarin said the province will provide one sack of rice to every family to help residents who are affected by COVID 19.
“Kuntani ini makabulig sa aton mga pumuluyo agud mapahagan-hagan ang epekto sang sini nga krisis (Hoping this will help our residents to mitigate the effect of this crisis)”, the Governor said in a press report of the province’s Information Section.
Gumarin personally delivered the 24,451 sacks of rice to the municipalities, of which Sibunag town was allocated 5,647 sacks, Nueva Valencia has 4,484 sacks, San Lorenzo has 6,815 sacks, Buenavista has 2,998 sacks, and Jordan has 4,507 sacks of rice. These aid were received by their respective local chief executives.
In addition, each of the five municipalities also received 495 boxes of canned goods.
The provincial government of Guimaras has procured 53,000 sacks of rice to be distributed to every family in the island-province while it tightens quarantine measures against corona virus disease 2019 (COVID 19).
Starting April 15, the enhanced community quarantine was strictly implemented in the province, the only province in Western Visayas with no reported case of COVID 19 infection.
The provincial government has still to complete the rice allocation for the municipalities of Jordan, Buenavista and Nueva Valencia while it awaits the delivery from the National Food Authority within this week.
Municipal governments were given the task to distribute the assistance from the provincial government to their constituents.
Gumarin continues to ask for the cooperation and help of every Guimarasnon to protect the province from the dreaded COVID-19 by following the enhanced community quarantine guidelines. (JSC/laf/PIA6-Iloilo)
