Iligan CHO: Don’t discriminate COVID-19 patients

April 18, 2020 Uncategorized

ILIGAN CITY, Apr. 18 (PIA) — The Iligan City Health Office (CHO) is asking the public not to discriminate against patients who are suspect, probable, or positive with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

“As community members, dili ta modiscriminate sa ila kay nahimo man silang victim sa sakit, so dili nato pun-an ilang mga pag-antos,” said Dr. Cherlina Cañaveral of CHO.

[As community members, let us not discriminate them as they became victims of the disease, we don’t have to add to their sufferings.]

“Ato silang tabangan nga makagawas sila ana nga sitwasyon,” she added.

[Let us help them get out of the situation.]

Cañaveral also reiterated her appeal for the Iligan community members to stay at home, practice social distancing, and pay attention to health advisories to prevent the spread of the virus.

“Although nakita nato nga niubos atong PUM ug PUI, pero wala pa ta kahibalo kung ang tanang katawhan sa Iligan safe na ba gyud,” she said.

[Although we see a decline in our PUM and PUI, we still do not know if all people in Iligan are really safe.]

She added that the efforts of the city government and health workers who are at the forefront in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will be gone to waste if community members will not cooperate. (APB/PIA ICIC)
