Ilonggo nurse-designer hailed as ‘Kontra COVID Hero’
ILOILO CITY, April 14 (PIA6) — Nurse and designer Adrian Pe, who hails from Iloilo City, was recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) as “Kontra COVID Hero.”
In its Facebook Page post, DOH lauded the Ilonggo designer for the creation of personal protective equipment (PPEs), which resemble the Power Rangers and Teletubbies, that have put smile on patient’s face and have given confidence to the frontline health workers.
“Maraming salamat sa Iloilo-based nurse designer na si Adrian Pe at mga sponsors nito for creating PPEs that will put a smile on patients’ face and make frontline health workers feel confident,” according to the social media post of DOH.
Meanwhile, Pe, in his Instagram post, shared that his goal is for each member of the healthcare team to feel confident rather than scared when they step inside the battlefield each day.
“I hope these hazmat suits empower everyone – nurses and patients, alike,” he said.
Pe, who also works as a nurse at The Medical City in Iloilo, has been one of the several Ilonggo designers who have produced fashionable PPEs for the medical frontliners here.
He added that his colorful creations were inspired by popular television shows, including Teletubbies. (JBG/LTP/PIA-Iloilo)
