LGU Kid. City prepares relief packs for distribution to quarantine-affected families
KIDAPAWAN CITY, Cotabato Province, Apr. 2 (PIA)— The city government here has started the repacking of relief items to be distributed to families heavily affected by the on-going general community quarantine due to the threat of the coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
City mayor Joseph Evangelista said the relief packs, each consists of rice, canned sardines, corned beef, and meatloaf, are to be distributed to 43,000 families in 40 villages of the city.
“The families will be given well-milled rice as ration during the quarantine period,” the city mayor stated adding that earlier, he had requested the National Food Authority to provide the City Government of the needed rice for the relief distribution.
The repacking of the goods which started on March 30 is being conducted at the City Gymnasium by the city government employees who are working under the skeletal workforce.
City information officer Atty. Paolo Evangelista said the distribution will take four days to reach all 40 villages and this will start today, Thursday.
The distribution of relief packs will be done by the Philippine Red Cross and the City Social Welfare and Development Office in coordination with the local government at the barangay level. (With reports from the City Government of Kidapawan)
