Mt. Province PCTF reminds citizens to observe minimum health standards at all times
BONTOC, Mountain Province, June 25(PIA) — The Provincial COVID-19 Task Force (PCTF) continues to remind the public to observe minimum health standards at all times while strengthening health safety protocols as the province remains under modified community quarantine and with its first COVID case recorded.
Continuing measures must be implemented to be able to mitigate the possible spread of the disease in the event of an infection, considering that many of the province’s residents stranded elsewhere during the lockdown, returning overseas Filipinos as well as those availing of the Balik Probinsya program are now coming home, and the movements of all authorized persons outside their residences, the PCTF headed by Governor Bonifacio Lacwasan stated.
It can be recalled that the first COVID-19 case in the province was recorded on June 16, or three months after the Enhanced Community Quarantine was declared in Luzon as a measure to prevent the spread of COVID 19. The 19 year old male from Suquib, Besao was infected by a police officer –kin who went home on official mission on June 6. The patient is admitted at the Luis Hora Regional Memorial Hospital and in stable condition.
The PCTF believes that chances of transmission will be much lesser if everyone will abide with the minimum health protocols particularly on the wearing of mask, social distancing, and going thru triage among others, and by the Inter Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases guidelines.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office continue to maintain quarantine control points along the provincial borders are still maintained and all incoming travelers must go thru the triage. Failure to honestly declare one’s point of origin and giving of misleading information will be ground for filing of cases
With the experiences of other neighboring provinces that many of their confirmed cases involved returning overseas Filipinos who have been previously tested negative, and locally stranded individuals (LSIs) from areas with positive cases, the PDRRMC continues to strengthen the management of these groups.
The PCTF tasked the focal person for OFW concerns to coordinate with the Baguio City government for the ROFs of the province to complete their 14-day quarantine at the Teachers’ Camp quarantine facility in Baguio City before the PLGU will ferry them to the province. LSIs are required to undergo 14-day quarantine.
The province is also priming its contact tracing capacity with the software being used by the City Government of Baguio, which is considered as a model in COVID-19 contact tracing in the country. (PIA Mt Province-CAR with reports from PGO)
