North Samar guv orders stricter measures in 4 borders

May 2, 2020 Uncategorized

CATARMAN, Northern Samar, May 2 (PIA) — To ensure security in the borders of this province, Governor Edwin Marino Ongchuan has ordered implementation of stringent measures at the four border control points particularly in Allen, San Isidro, Lope de Vega, and Lapinig.

Governor Ongchuan pushed for stringent border control to stop the spread of the COVID-19 considering that for the past two weeks, the province recorded no new confirmed positive case after the first positive COVID-19 case was recorded in the region who is from Catarman. Said person has already fully recovered.

In his new EO signed on April 27, the governor also ordered a 24-hour shifting system for the personnel. The executive order also seeks to secure all major and secondary entry and exit points of the area.

The provincial borders along national highway will be manned by the Philippine Nation Police in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Provincial Health Office, and the Local Government Units concerned, the EO stated.

The Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Ports Authority, and PNP Maritime Group will manage the sea port and coastal borders and ensure strict implementation of the general community quarantine protocols in every entry and exit point for sea transport in the province.

Governor Ongchuan personally visited the border control points of San Isidro and Allen, and discussed to the ground troops the border security measures and health protocols to be observed by the men and women on duty.

The visit is meant to effect a more strengthened and efficient set of procedures at the border with a clear, single, chain of command to fight COVID-19. (NBQ/TBC/PIA-Northern Samar)
