Over 2T workers in CV receive financial aid from DOLE-7

April 7, 2020 Uncategorized

CEBU, April 7 (PIA) — Over 2,000 workers in Central Visayas who belong to the formal sector benefited from the P5,000 financial assistance given by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7 as of March 30, 2020 under its COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP).

Luchel Taniza, public information officer of DOLE-7, said 56 establishments with a total of 2,154 employees whose regular income have been reduced or temporarily suspended due to the health emergency crisis facing the country availed of the social amelioration program (SAP) of the government.

“DOLE-7 has disbursed a total of P10.7 million under the CAMP,” said Taniza.

The affected employees of the 56 companies would be notified and provided with their respective transaction codes in claiming their P5,000 financial assistance, the DOLE-7 said.

As provinces in the region implemented a lockdown of borders and strict curfew to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, DOLE-7 appealed to employers in the formal sector not to dismiss or retrench their workers.

Taniza said private companies whose operations have been affected by the situation are urged to resort to flexible working arrangements in order to preserve employment, rather than terminating their workers.

Under RA 11469 or the Bayanhan to Heal as One Act, the government rolled out a P200-B special amelioration package to help disadvantaged sectors cope with the crisis through distribution of relief goods and financial aid for two months, as the government grapples to “flatten the curve” amid increasing number of cases daily.

Taniza said companies can avail of the CAMP by submitting to their agency two required documents – a report that they are implementing the flexible working arrangements for their workers and company payroll in prior months.

“We will validate their documents especially on the list of workers, if indeed they are really workers of the company,” said Taniza.

With the social distancing protocol, physical submission of documents to apply for CAMP is prohibited as all applications should be sent online, she added.

Submission of documents can be sent via email at cpfodolero7@gmail.com for Cebu province and dolenegrosoriental@yahoo.com for Negros Oriental province.

For Bohol, email address is doleboholfo@gmail.com and dolesiquijor@gmail.com for Siquijor province, the DOLE-7 information officer said.

“All applications will go through a validating team to ensure the government assistance is given to deserving workers,” said Taniza. (fcr/PIA7)
