PLGU Quirino waives off 2020 Real Property Tax collection

April 10, 2020 Uncategorized

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, April 9 (PIA)—The Sangguniang Panlalawigan here headed by Vice Governor Julius Caesar Vaquilar has enacted Ordinance no. 09 series of 2020 granting amnesty for Real Property Taxes in the province for the year 2020.

Ordinance no. 09  shall apply to real property taxes for the year 2020 only which means that  taxpayers who have not yet paid their real property taxes for the year 2020 will no longer be obliged to pay.

Prior to this, Gov. Dakila Carlo E. Cua sought the support of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan for the enactment of said ordinance considering the crisis that the taxpayers are experiencing due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier, the  Sangguniang Panlalawigan also adopted Resolution No. 28 series of 2020, declaring the province under a State of Calamity due to the spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and African Swine Fever.

“Under an Enhanced Community Quarantine, the movement of the population is restricted with exceptions; constituents of the province are directed to strictly observe home quarantine, temporary closure of establishments, checkpoints procedures, and public safety hours,” the ordinance stated.

Furthermore, it was pointed out in the ordinance that the enhanced community quarantine had rendered many establishments, business and other economic activities non-operational thereby affecting the income of many constituents, while the government is still assessing the situation for the next steps when the quarantine ends.
