CALOOCAN CITY, April 25 (PIA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said COVID-19 infection among the police forces has reached 78 confirmed cases, 580 suspected, and 96 probable cases for a total of 754 personnel.
According to PNP Health Service director Police Brigadier General Herminio Tadeo Jr., a total of 12 recoveries and 3 deaths were recorded as of 6pm of April 23, amid the PNP enforcing heightened enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) measures particularly in areas with increasing incidence of COVID-19 infections.

Also, the PNP, through the DILG and in cooperation with the DOH, is tasked to lead the contact tracing of positive, probable and suspected COVID-19 cases in the country.
“As the PNP increases its presence as part of heightened ECQ measures and now includes COVID-19 contact tracing throughout the country, the exposure of our personnel to the Pandemic increases. Thus, we will intensify monitoring of COVID-19 cases among our PNP personnel and will strictly implement PNP-wide Biosafety Plan in all PNP camps, headquarters, precincts including ECQ checkpoints,” said PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Bernard Banac.
Aside from immediate arrest of ECQ violators, the PNP will also intensify arrest for hoarding, profiteering, manipulation of prices, spreading of fake news, cyberfraud and will also arrest those caught harassing or discriminating our frontline Health Care Workers.
“To all our countrymen do your part as homeliners by staying at home throughout this heightened lockdown,” said Police General Banac. (PIA NCR)
