CALOOCAN CITY, April 14 (PIA) — The San Juan City Government on Monday inaugurated eight new COVID-19 modular, lightweight container van facilities in San Juan Medical Center (SJMC).

“The purpose of this facility is to become a staging area for COVID-19 positive patients lined up for admission to the COVID-19 ward at the San Juan Medical Center,” San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said in an interview by media.

The COVID-19 container van facilities are equipped with beds and air condition units per van that can accommodate a total of 32 patients.

“There will be dedicated container van for COVID-19 OB mothers who just gave birth.” Zamora said.

These container van facilities were made possible through the support of EEI Corporation, an affiliate of Yuchengco group of companies, he added.

Meanwhile, San Juan City LGU has previously opened isolation rooms, COVID-19 ward and San Juan Science High School overflow facility that are fully operational and dedicated for COVID-19 patients in the city.

“The goal is to reduce the number of COVID-19 positive patients that would eventually record zero here in San Juan City,” Zamora said.

As of April 13, San Juan City records 159 confirmed cases with 17 recovered and 45 discharged.

Patients deemed as recovered are those who tested negative twice while discharged patients are those who are already treated and only waiting for the results two consecutive negative tests.

“We are doing everything we can to win this fight against COVID-19,” the mayor said.

Zamora also advised the public to stay home to prevent from being infected with COVID-19. (PIA-NCR)
