Settlement of water bill now available via Smart Money

February 17, 2012 technology

Metro Manila residents may now enjoy the convenience of paying for their water bill with just a few clicks on their Smart mobile phone.
Wireless leader Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has added the Manila Water Company, Inc. to the list of utility companies that accept Smart Money, the world’s first reloadable payment card linked to a mobile phone, as a form of payment.
Manila Water provides water services to more than 1 million households in the East Concession area of Metro Manila, covering parts of Quezon City, Makati, Taguig, Pateros, Marikina, Pasig, San Juan, Mandaluyong, Manila, and Rizal province.
Now, Manila Water customers may likewise benefit from the convenience  of mobile bills payment previously available only to households in the West Concession area, or those served by Maynilad Water Services, Inc.
Paying for a Manila Water bill using a Smart mobile phone is as easy as sending a few text messages.
A Smart Money user simply needs to go to the Smart Money menu of the cellphone, select the PAY BILLS option, and then select OTHERS. Users must then key in the Manila Water Biller Code—05025– and the 8-digit Manila Water Contract Account Number.
To complete the transaction, the Smart Money user must then enter their 6-digit W-PIN and press OK.
“Through the payment convenience offered by Smart Money, Manila Water customers don’t have to transport cash, to travel long distances to payment centers, nor experience long queues when paying for  their water bills. They can settle their water bills, anytime, anywhere,” said Tricia Dizon, head of Financial Services at Smart.
This payment option is also available to customers of other utility companies such as MERALCO, PLDT, Smart, Maynilad, CENECO (in Bacolod), Smart Bro, and SkyCable, plus selected schools..
Aside from the speed and security of mobile bills payment services, Smart Money — issued exclusively by Banco de Oro (BDO) — also offers the convenience of using a Smart mobile phone to perform airtime reloading, to receive international remittance or transfer cash to over 47.7 million Smart subscribers, and to purchase goods and services from 35 million MasterCard establishments around the world and 350,000 online.
Users may also do over-the-counter transactions at over 4,000 Smart Stores and Smart Money encashment centers, and to withdraw from over 9,000 ATMs all over the Philippines.
To apply for a Smart Money Account, simply visit any Smart Store anywhere in the country, or any of BDO’s over 700 branches. For more information and the complete list of billers, visit www.smart.com.ph/money
