Tagalog News: Shell Companies in the Philippines roll out Ani Para sa Bayani Program

BATANGAS CITY, April 21 (PIA)–Shell Companies in the Philippines through its social investment arm, Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. (PSFI) has organized the Ani Para sa Bayani program.
 
The program aims to help farmers by directly purchasing their farm produce to help them ease the effects of the coronavirus disease (COVID)-19. The puchased agri products was donated to the community kitchens which directly feed the frontliners in hospitals, response teams and enforcers at checkpoints.

On April 8, about 2,224 kgs. of assorted vegetables such as carrots, chayote, cabbages, beans, tomatoes ang eggplants among others were turned over by PSFI to the Batangas Medical Center, Batangas City Local Government Community Kitchen and 600 households from Brgy. Malitam.
 
Shell Tabangao Refinery is implementing an 86-hectare community based reforestation project with the help of PSFI in Dolores, Quezon. The vegetables were purchased from the local farmers in said town.
 
“We can feed around 1,200 frontline workers for seven days after receiving the vegetables donation PSFI. It is indeed a big help,” said Jocelyn Cantre of Batangas City General Services Department.
 
Aside from those donations, Shell Companies in the Philippines in partnership with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) donated 1,000 packs of vegetables to the households of Tabangao Aplaya and indigent contractors.
 
Reynaldo Doce, Tabangao-Aplaya Barangay Chairperson expressed his sincerest gratitude to PSFI and Tabangao Refinery noting that the donations will go a long way because it was very much needed by the residents especially nowadays.
