Two more cops recover from COVID-19

CALOOCAN CITY, April 12 (PIA) — Two more Philippine National Police members who are positive for COVID-19 have recovered, a report said.

They were PNP patient-2, a 31 year old policeman from Manila and PNP patient-9, a 55 year old policeman from Quezon City. Both were already discharged from the hospital.

The PNP Health Service has recorded two new cases bringing the total number of PNP positive personnel to 27 as of April 11, 2020. PNP patient-26 is a 52 year old policeman assigned in Metro Manila and is currently undergoing self-quarantine and treatment. While another 34 year old female PNP personnel who earlier succumbed to illness was confirmed to be infected in test results released recently, and she was recorded as PNP patient-27 by the PNP Health Service.

Currently, the PNP Health Service has a record of 52 PNP personnel categorized as Probable PUIs (Persons Under Investigation) which includes 12 Police Commissioned Officers and 40 Police Non-Commissioned Officers. While there are a total of 257 personnel who were recommended as Suspected PUIs including 59 Police Commissioned Officers, 177 Police Non-Commissioned Officers and 21 Non-Uniformed Personnel

A total of 1,339 PNP personnel are listed as Possible Case of Persons Under Monitoring (PUM) composed of 313 Police Commissioned Officers, 972 Police Non-Commissioned Officers, and 54 Non-Uniformed Personnel. 

As of April 11, 2020, there are a total of 1,789 personnel which includes 1,493 Possible PUMs, 246 Probable PUIs and 50 Suspected PUIs have completed self/home quarantine and tested negative to the said virus.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief, Police General Archie Francisco F Gamboa announced that final preparations are underway for the deployment of the PNP medical corps and health care personnel to the quarantine facility at the PICC. 

A walk-thru inspection was conducted on Black Saturday by PNPHS officials at the facility located at the PICC Forum Tent that is designed to cater to 294 patients with mild to moderate COVID-19 cases.   

The Philippine National Police Health Service will be in charge of medical operations in the quarantine facility.

“The PNP, with our corps of medical and healthcare personnel, is honored to take on this crucial responsibility in our national efforts to stand our ground against COVID-19 and heal the land of this contagion. This health facility at PICC will provide supportive care to anyone who will be admitted under close supervision of the PNP Health Service and DOH,” Gamboa said. (PIA NCR)
