Candon City records 2 more COVID-19 cases
CANDON CITY, Aug. 2 (PIA) – The Candon City government reported two new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on July 31 and August 1, bringing the city’s total infection to eight.
Both patients are asymptomatic and authorized persons outside residence (APOR), one being a midwife and the other a frontliner.
The city’s seventh COVID-19 case, referred to as patient IS-C45, is a 28-year-old male of Barangay Allangigan Primero who has no travel history.
He has exposure to locally stranded individuals (LSIs), returning overseas Filipinos (ROFs) and frontliners.
He is currently admitted at the Narvacan District Hospital isolation facility and on stable condition.
On the other hand, the city’s eight case, referred to as patient IS-C46, is a 28-year-old male of Barangay Bagani Tocgo and has a travel history at the National Capital Region for an official business.
He had exposure to patients IS-C37 (fourth case in Candon City), IS-C38 (fifth case) and IS-C45 (seventh case); LSIs; ROFs; and various patients.
He is presently admitted at the Sta. Lucia District Hospital isolation facility and also on stable condition.
City Mayor Ericson Singson immediately ordered the enforcement of the community containment strategy in Barangay Allangigan Primero from July 31 to August 14, 2020 and in Barangay Bagani Tocgo from August 1-15, 2020.
All residents are expected to follow strictly their respective quarantine classifications.
“Contact tracing is now going with proper coordination to all agencies concerned and to mitigate further transmission of the disease,” Mayor Singson said.
He appealed to all residents to continue practicing the minimum public health standards of the Department of Health.
He also reiterated his strong condemnation to all acts of discrimination against confirmed, probable and suspected cases, health workers and their families.
“Violators will be penalized,” he added.
To date, the province of Ilocos Sur has 40 active cases of COVID-19 while six have recovered. (JCR/AMB/PIA Ilocos Sur)
