CALOOCAN CITY, April 28 (PIA) –Trainees from the Navotas Vocational Training and Assessment (NAVOTAAS) Institute are producing personal protective equipment (PPEs) for the city’s frontliners.

Recently, some 20 dressmaking graduates and one trainer of the NAVOTAAS Institute as well as two helpers made an initial batch of 93 coveralls, 60 laboratory gowns and 300 foot covers for the city’s frontliners which were turned over to the Navotas City Hospital.

“High demand for PPEs made it difficult to source the said items. Tapping our dressmaking graduates is a win-win for us—we secured a constant supply of PPEs, they earned a living,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

The group is set to produce 3,000 coverall suits, 3,000 lab gowns, 6,000 foot covers and 500 bed sheets.

Navotas allotted P1.2 million for the said project from its Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund.

Previously, the Navotas DRRM Council realigned P14,160,689 of its budget for various programs to buy PPEs, medical supplies and medicines for Coronavirus Disease 2019. (Navotas PIO/PIA-NCR)
