Over 120,000 senior citizens in Manila to receive milk food supplement
CALOOCAN CITY, April 28 (PIA) — Over 120,000 senior citizens in the nation’s capital will receive milk food supplements as part of the Manila City government’s relief efforts amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Manila City Mayor Franciso “Isko Moreno” Domagoso announced that a total of 120,886 senior citizens will receive a can containing 400 grams of Ensure Gold milk starting Monday, April 27.
Domagoso said the City government decision to distribute milk food supplement to their elderlies was based on studies that senior citizens are more vulnerable to CoViD-19 infection.
The mayor said the city government purchased 150,000 milk cans in order to guarantee that all senior citizens living in City of Manila will received one can of milk.
The milk cans will be handed over to barangay officials who in turn will be responsible for distribution among senior citizens in their respective barangays.
The milk assitance was the second wave of assistance provided by the Manila City government for its senior citizens.
Earlier, the local government began the accelerated distribution of P1,500 cash pension for every duly-registered senior citizen in the nation’s capital.
More than 64,000 senior citizens have already benefited from the Social Amelioration program of the local government. (Manila PIO/PIA-NCR)
