ECQ-affected Pagadian workers receive P5,000 DOLE cash-aid
PAGADIAN CITY, April 13 (PIA)— At least 89 workers of a local resort in the city who were affected in the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak received financial assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
The private workers of Springland Resort in Pagadian City received P5,000 each from the COVID-19 Adjustments Measures Program (CAMP) of the agency.
The CAMP is safety net program of the agency that offers financial support to alleviate affected workers from the adverse economic impacts like the reduction of income of affected workers in business establishments that have adopted temporary closure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the guidelines, a one-time financial assistance equivalent to P5,000 shall be provided to affected workers in lump-sum, non-conditional regardless of employment status.
Hernie Montañez, SR manager was very grateful to President Rodrigo Duterte for implementing an emergency subsidy program to the affected workers.

Ning panahon sa krisis, among nabati ang dakong pagpakabana sa atong gobyerno pagtabang kanamo nga mga naapektuhan nga workers,” happily said.

Montañez said they stopped working since March 16, after the establishment received the executive order from the provincial government ordering the resort to temporarily close due to the strict implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ).
Rhea Repala, an office clerk said the financial assistance she received can help address their most basic needs.
“I thanked the government for helping us, the formal workers who were affected by the implementation of ECQ. For more than a month, we experienced a difficult situation because the establishment that we are serving has implemented the ‘No Work, No Pay Policy’. The money that I received will be used to buy basic needs such as food to feed my family,” Repal said who is working in the establishment for almost twenty years.
According to the data released by the DOLE-regional office 9, a total of 2,165 formal workers from 98 establishments region-wide were enrolled under the CAMP and 122 formal workers are from Zamboanga del Sur.(RVC/GCC/PIA-Zamboanga del Sur)
